LIMPOPO — An early-morning phone call from a local garage employee alerted a Limpopo mother to the assault of her three teenage daughters, sparking a widespread police search across the Mopani District.
At approximately 03:45 on Sunday, 09 August 2026, a service station attendant phoned a 54-year-old resident to inform her that her three children, aged 14 and 17, had sought shelter at the facility after being abandoned along the roadway. The incident happened days after a man was arrested in Limpopo for allegedly raping his two granddaughters.
The sisters, residents of Lephepane village, had been offered transport around 23:00 on Saturday, 08 August 2026, by two men operating an unidentified red Toyota Corolla who promised to take them to buy food at a local establishment. Instead, the drivers diverted the vehicle to isolated terrain in Khujwana village, where both perpetrators sexually assaulted all three teenagers before dropping them near the service station.
Cases opened, incident condemned
Ritavi SAPS officially registered three charges of sexual violence following the report. Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, Provincial Commissioner for Limpopo, issued a firm condemnation of gender-based crimes, confirming that dedicated investigators from the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit have deployed full operational assets to locate the vehicle and apprehend the perpetrators.
