Gauteng Farm Attack: 3 Suspects Nabbed After Homeowner Allegedly Tortured for Hours

GAUTENG —Three suspects are in custody following a violent farm attack in the Cullinan area, after tactical units tracked a vehicle linked to the suspected criminal group overnight.

The suspects were intercepted in Welbekend, where officers stopped the vehicle and recovered suspected stolen property. The arrest came at the end of an overnight operation by law enforcement.

The following morning, Echo-1 tactical units intercepted the vehicle in Welbekend. The three occupants were apprehended and found to be in possession of suspected stolen property. Their detention prompted further investigation that led the team to a farmhouse outside Cullinan.

At the property, responders discovered the homeowner restrained on his bed with his hands and feet bound. He had sustained serious injuries consistent with a prolonged assault, having allegedly been beaten, stabbed and tortured over several hours. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and stabilised the victim before his family reached the property. The farmhouse had been ransacked, and the victim's bakkie was taken during the attack.

Police take over the investigation

South African Police Service have since assumed control of the case, and all three suspects remain in custody. The security company confirmed it would continue to monitor developments and issue further updates as the matter progresses.

The armed response company also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting rural communities in the region, particularly given the vulnerability of farms in the Cullinan and Bronkhorstspruit corridor to organised criminal activity.
