SOUTH AFRICA - Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of the controversial anti-migrant movement March and March, has announced that her organisation will sit down with civil rights group AfriForum on Tuesday to explore how the Afrikaner-focused body raises funds, builds institutions, and advances legal activism.

Ngobese-Zuma made the announcement on Monday during a demonstration in Durban, where the movement marched near the venue of the 46th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit.

"We're working with anyone who's a South African. We work with them. AfriForum is South African. We're not against anyone because of their race," she said.

She was careful to draw a line between learning from AfriForum and endorsing everything it stands for.

"It doesn't mean that we're saying now we're going to be worshipping AfriForum. That's not what we're saying. We also told them that we disagree. But here we want to learn about the things that you are doing correctly for the people who are in your forum," she said.

Ngobese-Zuma said the movement was particularly interested in understanding how AfriForum finances projects such as universities and builds lasting institutions.

"So that's part of the SA First Forum, and that's the mission that we want. We want to come up with strategies and ways that they learn to finance things like universities. How do they build them, et cetera, et cetera," she said.
