Kempton Park Women's Killings: Acting Police Minister Cachalia Suspects Multiple Killers

EKURHULENI — Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia said more than one person may be behind the killings. He is expected to meet top cop General Puleng Dimpane to discuss the evidence gathered following the discovery of five women in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, recently.

In a statement the South African Police Service shared, Cachalia, who recently visited China on a working trip, conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims. Cachalia returned from China on 14 September. He also expressed deep concern about gender-based violence in the country.

Cachalia said that it was disturbing that multiple women who were murdered were found in the same area. He further called on the investigation to examine the possibility that more than one killer may be behind the deaths. He said that the purpose of his meeting with the team investigating the deaths would be to assess the investigation’s progress and ensure that the SAPS are equipped with the resources to conduct an effective investigation.

Cachalia calls for information from the public

Cachalia called on members of the public to come forward with information and contact the police. He also warned members of the public against circulating unverified information about the discovery of the five bodies.

The police also recently identified one of the five victims, 38-year-old Elizabeth Moselakgomo, who was found on 13 September 2026. Her family identified her remains on 14 September and confirmed that her daughter alerted the family to her mother’s disappearance after she did not return from her morning jog. The investigations into the discoveries and Moselakgomo’s death continue.
