Waterfall City Athletics Club has dedicated its weekly In Her Honour Run to Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo, a 38-year-old Kempton Park runner whose death has shaken the South African running community.

Moselakgomo left her Rhodesfield home on Wednesday, 9 September, for what was meant to be a routine run. She never returned. Days later, her family formally identified her body at the Germiston mortuary on Monday after a woman's remains were discovered in the area.

The club announced that Tuesday's 5 am In Her Honour Run would be held across multiple Gauteng locations, including Waterfall, Bryanston, Centurion, Springs, Fourways, Pretoria, Benoni and Greenstone. Participants have been asked to wear black as a mark of respect.

In a message announcing the dedication, the club wrote:

"In Her Honour is our reminder that women deserve to feel safe on the road. It is about running together, looking out for one another and standing with our women, not only on Tuesdays, but every day."

The club also extended an open invitation to running clubs and communities beyond Gauteng:

"We invite runners, running clubs and communities across South Africa to join us in solidarity. Let's continue to run with our women, no matter their pace, look out for one another and help create roads where every woman can run without fear and return home safely."

The post drew swift engagement from the running community, with many runners asking about specific meeting points and others leaving personal tributes to Moselakgomo.

SAPS Investigates Multiple Cases in Kempton Park

Moselakgomo's death forms part of a broader pattern that police are working to understand. The South African Police Service is currently investigating several cases involving women whose bodies have been found in and around Kempton Park since July. SAPS has not confirmed whether the cases are linked, though investigators are examining possible connections between them.
