Vilakazi started some games for Kaizer Chiefs last season and was impressive in some of them. The youngster's performance for Amakhosi earned him a place in Amajita's squad that won the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier this year.

Since the start of this season, the South African youth international has not started a game. He came off the bench against Lamontville Golden Arrows to create the chance that led to Flavio Silva's debut goal for Kaizer Chiefs.

He expressed concern over Vilakazi’s lack of game intelligence and positional awareness, questioning whether he received the right guidance during his developmental years at the Chiefs academy.

"In my view, Mfundo is the most talented youngster at Chiefs," Khanye shared on his YouTube channel.
"But the way he's being developed is why we mostly see him used as an impact player off the bench."
"Personally, I'm not a fan of Coach Nabi. I don’t think he appreciates skilful players. Just look at how Gaston Sirino often starts out wide; it raises questions."

Khanye also went further to highlight some of the attributes of Vilakazi and hopes his development can be handled properly to end like Relebohile Mofokeng.

"Mfundo is incredibly gifted, but he still needs to learn about positioning. Football isn't just about doing whatever you want with the ball," he continued.

PSL star breaks silence on Kaizer Chiefs exit: "It’s the honest truth"

"Sometimes he tends to showboat, and that’s where proper coaching is essential. If his development had been handled correctly, I believe he'd be getting national team call-ups, just like players such as Rele."

Vilakazi's cameo appearance against Golden Arrows could convince Nabi to put him in more games this season, as Kaizer Chiefs are involved in several competitions this season.

The PSL side would be taking part in the CAF Confederations Cup, Carling Knockout, and would also hope to successfully defend their Nedbank Cup title this season.
