Golden Arrows striker Junior Dion is attracting attention from the top of the PSL, with Kaizer Chiefs still in the market for a striker ahead of the 21 September transfer window deadline.
Amakhosi coach Fernando da Cruz had previously indicated his desire to bring in a striker and two wide players. Two wingers have since arrived, but a frontman remains on the agenda. Dion, who is entering the final year of his contract at Arrows, has emerged as a name linked with a move upward.
**Ivorian Forward Builds a Strong Scoring Record**
The 31-year-old has proven himself as one of the more reliable goalscorers in the PSL. Dion netted 15 goals in his debut season at Arrows and has added four more in the current campaign, taking his tally to 19. Despite Arrows previously rejecting offers from abroad on his behalf, speculation around his future continues to grow.
Fellow Ivorian Brice Aka, a former PSL striker who played for Maritzburg United and spoke to KickOff from Europe, offered a candid view of Dion's circumstances. "Dion is at his peak now and enjoying his football, so he needs to make it the most rewarding phase of his career," Aka said.

Aka drew on his own experience of attempting a move to Auxerre in France, which ultimately did not materialise, to underline the importance of timing. "Football is a short career, and he needs to make financial decisions," he noted, while adding that Dion should avoid controversy and continue to honour his obligations at Arrows.
**Pirates Legend Adds Voice to the Conversation**
Aka was direct about where he believes Dion belongs. "I obviously want to see him at a bigger team as a fellow countryman because he has a family to look after. He needs to make the best choice financially now," he said, adding that the age factor would soon limit the calibre of contracts available to the forward.
The remarks from Aka follow a separate plea from Orlando Pirates legend Benedict "Tso" Vilakazi, who told iDiski TV that the Buccaneers should move for Dion. "He can fit into any big team," Vilakazi said. "One thing about him is that he is 31 years old, he has experience, he knows what he needs to do, and he understands his role."
Vilakazi was unequivocal in his recommendation. "He would be a perfect striker, and I hope Pirates sign him because when you look at him, he has qualities that Pirates currently lack. For me, there's no doubt, Pirates should sign him. We need a striker like Dion," he stated.
Whether Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates move first remains to be seen, with the transfer window set to close in a matter of weeks.
