The reigning Rugby World Cup champions won their last four matches against New Zealand and are hoping to make it five wins in a row in their next game.
“We know exactly how big these two upcoming games are; every clash with the All Blacks is massive, especially given the fierce rivalry between us,” Erasmus said after unveiling the Springboks squad.
“We’ve won our last four encounters against them, going back to 2023. That’s only the second time in history we’ve managed four consecutive wins over New Zealand, and there’s no doubt that will drive both teams even more."

The South African coach also spoke on the importance of building on the progress his team made this year and explained why they had to travel early to New Zealand.
“It’s important that we keep building on the progress we’ve made this year and raise our level again ahead of those matches in two weeks," he added.
“We’re flying to New Zealand tomorrow (Tuesday), which gives us plenty of time to adjust to the time difference. That should help ensure we’re fully settled and ready when it’s time to step onto the field.”
The Springboks have notched up an impressive four consecutive victories over the All Blacks, highlighted by a hard-fought 18-12 win in Cape Town in 2024, a close 31-27 triumph in Johannesburg also in 2024, a nail-biting 12-11 edge in Paris in 2023, and a dominant 35-7 display in London in 2023.
