An AI-generated clip of Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus singing to the Webb Ellis Cup is doing the rounds on social media, and Mzansi cannot get enough.

The video, posted by user just. fomzy, places a digital likeness of Erasmus in the iconic White Chicks scene where Terry Crews passionately sings Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" in a convertible — only this time, the trophy is his audience.

The coach has previously shared videos of himself dancing to local hits, including the popular track "Sister Bethina," and was part of the 1999 Springbok Rugby World Cup squad that filmed a spoof parodying the beach opening sequence from Chariots of Fire. His well-documented sense of humour makes the AI creation feel oddly believable, even if the technology behind it is obvious.

Springboks Regroup After Perth Defeat

The video's timing adds another layer to its appeal. It arrived shortly after the Springboks suffered a bruising 42–38 defeat to Australia in Perth during the Rugby Championship, a result that sparked considerable debate. Much of the post-match conversation focused on the 13 squad changes Erasmus had made ahead of the clash, with many questioning whether the rotation policy cost the world champions.

The loss came on the back of a historic run of form. Before travelling to Perth, South Africa had secured a 3–1 Test series victory over the All Blacks, a series that included three matches on home soil and a finale in Baltimore, USA.
