Grateful Orlando Pirates Boss Irvin Khoza Queues for Covid-19 Vaccine

- Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has been spotted among senior citizens standing in line to receive his Covid-19 vaccine

- Khoza said he's grateful and honoured to have been vaccinated, adding that he should set an example as a football chairman in the public eye with Pirates

Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has gotten vaccinated against Covid-19 and was spotted among senior citizens standing in a queue. The veteran football administrator said he is grateful to have been among the citizens who had to come out of chilly weather to get vaccinated.

According to TimesLIVE, Khoza was among the senior citizens who were vaccinated at the Munsieville Centre for the Aged in Krugersdorp, Gauteng on Monday.

This comes as the country and the Gauteng province are guarding against the scourge of the pandemic and the third wave. Khoza said to TimesLIVE.

“I'm grateful to be among the first to be vaccinated and I'm here to do what is right for my country so that we may return to normality. As chairman of football, l felt the need to lead by example and vaccinate. This is not about status but about doing what is right.”

Meanwhile, Gauteng Premier David Makhura said they are targeting 10.4 million people to get the jabs.

Makhura told the publication:

“I met the elderly people [this morning] and their message has been very positive. They believe vaccines work. We started with fewer sites but there are lessons that we are taking from this. I'm reassuring the healthcare workers that they will not left behind. We will vaccinate them simultaneously with the elderly.”

Briefly News reported that Clicks and Dis-Chem were gearing up to offer Covid-19 vaccines through their retail outlets and announced the plans recently.

The two largest Mzansi pharmaceutical groups reportedly said they have received approval from the country's Health Department.

Clicks said it has been approved to offer 47 vaccination sites across the country with a further 520 awaiting approval for registration, reports Business Tech.
