"Oldest Trick": SA Man Locked Inside KFC After Spending Time in the Bathroom

• South African man found himself trapped inside a KFC after staff closed the store while he was still in the bathroom

A South African man ended up stranded inside a KFC branch on 13 August 2026 after staff locked up and left while he was still in the bathroom. The man, whose clip was shared by @newsnexussa on TikTok, filmed himself inside what appeared to be a KFC restaurant, complete with the brand's red-and-white décor and bucket signage clearly visible in the background. He panned his camera around an empty dining area, a locked exit and a dark hallway leading to the restrooms, visibly frustrated as he tried to make sense of his situation.

According to the clip by @newsnexussa had been in the bathroom for around 30 minutes before realising the store had been shut around him. He mentioned calling the fire department and the police as he tried to figure out how to get out of the building. Watch the video below:

The video quickly drew a crowd in the comments section, with South Africans split between sympathy and scepticism. One thing both sides agreed on: a 30-minute bathroom trip at closing time was always going to raise eyebrows.

@LeeMgcina questioned the timeline, writing:

"Guys, if he did it on purpose, why would he record himself and post?"
