The 27th edition of the award ceremony is highly anticipated and the nominations are not really what was expected. The nominations for the best hip-hop album went to Boity, Yanga Chief, Nadia Nakai, Nasty C and Zakwe & Duncan.

To say that Mzansi social media users were confused is an understatement because fans were shocked about who had been nominated. Cassper Nyovest released his top album Any Minute Now in 2020 and his name hasn't made it to the list this time.
