South African rapper and media personality, Boity Thulo became famous as a YOTV presenter and later as a star of the drama series Rockville. She has also been a host of various shows such as Ridiculousness Africa, Club 808 and Big Brother Africa. She started rapping in 2017. She was recognised as one of Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 in 2019 for her impact in the music and entertainment sector.
Career
Thulo’s television career kicked off when she presented the YOTV educational show Crib Notes in 2011. She then co-hosted The Media Career Guide Show on SABC 1 with Thomani Mahlaba. She also took on hosting roles on several television shows.
Music
Thulo debuted as a rapper on the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa on 21 October 2017 at the TicketPro Dome. As Migos were delayed by a few hours, Thulo joined Nasty C as one of the opening acts until the trio arrived. On 30 August 2018, Thulo launched her debut single Wuz Dat, featuring Nasty C.
The song became the best-selling single of all time by a female rapper in South Africa. It also won the category of Best Collaboration at the 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards, making her the first lead female rapper to achieve this.
In October 2020, Boity headlined Rose Fest along with Ami Faku, Simmy and Busiswa. In 2020, she signed a record deal with Def Jam Africa and launched her EP 4436.

Personal life
Thulo grew up with her maternal grandmother in Potchefstroom, North West. She is the only child of Modiehi Thulo, her mother. Thulo enrolled in psychology and criminology at Monash University but later quit.
Thulo is a sangoma, a traditional healer in South Africa.
Thulo has dated several celebrities, such as rapper Cassper Nyovest, TV host Katlego Maboe and rapper Stanley Obiamalu.
Thulo is also an entrepreneur and has started her own fragrance line called Boity Pink Sapphire and a haircare range called Halo Heritage.
