Sometimes relationships do not work out, or one party passes away, and in a lot of cases it leaves one of the individuals a single parent. And, it is no different for some of SA’s celebrities.

Briefly.co.za gathered five of SA’s most famous mommies and how they’re slaying it being a single parent.

1. Pearl Thusi

There’s no doubt South African actress Pearl Thusi loves her daughter more than anything. Thusi has a beautiful girl with Walter Mokoena, who tied the knot with former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter in 2016.

Despite her busy schedule, which requires a lot of travelling, the actress always makes time for her daughter. But, she has admitted it’s not always great being a single mother, especially on her birthday and Mother’s Day.

2. Kelly Khumalo

Khumalo raised her son on her own for four years while his father, Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye, while he was in prison.

Jub Jub was locked away for culpable homicide of four schoolchildren who died during a drag racing accident.

Khumalo also has a daughter with the late soccer star, Senzo Meyiwa.

But, despite being unlucky in relationships, the beauty does not rely on anyone to look after her and her children.

So, she worked hard and succeeded in the entertainment industry, and by doing so she gave her child a luxurious life.

4. Nonhle Thema

Thema is proof of how a child can change a person. She was previously known to be a narcissistic, but she surprised everyone when she became a selfless mother who always put her child’s need before her own.

Her dedicated to the single parent lifestyle led to Thema starting the ‘Yummy Mummy Club’- a support group for all mommies.

“My daughter means everything to me – she’s the light. She showed me the true meaning of life and she helped me understand the universe better. I understand the dynamics of life through my daughter,” she was quoted saying three-years-ago.

5. Thembisa Mdoda

Mdoda is very protective of her twin boys and she prefers to keep them out of the post light. But, on rare occasion she does give her fans a glimpse at the two little men in her life.
