The safety of one's child is every parent's biggest concern. That's why a video showing a bus driver allowing a pupil to take the wheel while he day drinks is so concerning.
On Wednesday, social media user Kulani - who goes by the handle @kulanicool, posted a video showing a teen driving a bus while the actual driver stands next to her.
Not only did he allow a learner, who is not licenced to drive a bus, to take the wheel, but the man was also spotted drinking beer from the bottle.
Kulani captioned the clip:
"Moshoeshoe Agriculture high school learner in Matatiele had to take the wheel of a bus ferrying learners because the driver was drunk. He continued to drink as she drivers."
According to News24, the video first surfaced online on 16 October and the Eastern Cape department of education has since suspended the bus operator.
South Africans were left fuming over the footage, with many calling for the driver to be sacked and arrested.
However, while many were angry over the driver's actions, they were impressed by the girl's skills.
Twitter user, @Xesibeelikhulu, wrote:
"She is the girl, that drunkard must go for counselling."
Another tweep, @RoyalBleuu, said:
"Fired already, he will drink nicely unemployed."
Another video has gone viral showing an attempted hijacking gone wrong. Briefly.co.za earlier reported a recent incident, which took place at an intersection in Pinetown, Durban, was caught on video, showing a motorist fighting back.
The particular spot on Josiah Gumede street has been dubbed a crime hotspot, and motorists are especially vigilant when stopping at the intersection. A video, which was shared on the eThekwini Secure Facebook page, shows three men approaching a white Ford bakkie.
The men surrounded the vehicle and attempted to enter it during an alleged hijacking. However, little did they know the driver was armed. The unidentified motorist opened fire on the thugs, dropping one and leaving the other two to flee the scene.
