Talk of walking into 2021 in style.
A waitress from the US is laughing her way to the bank after a kind customer left her a tip of R30 000 and a sweet message to boot.
Kelly Amar who works for Miami Squeeze went about her usual business then served a customer whose bill was around R1 062.
The lady told CNN that the customer regularly visits their juice bar and comes in at least twice every week.
So, the Good Samaritan took her drink then asked for the bill…as per her norm.
Then she paid the bill and added a significant amount on top - R30 000.
Kelly thought she maybe mistakingly read the tip incorrectly.
As soon as it hit her that her eyes had not deceived her, the waitress walked up to the customer and asked if she accidentally overtipped her, not believing that the huge amount could be genuine.
“We went back to her and asked, ‘Are you sure?’ and she said, ‘Yes, of course, I’m so grateful for you guys and I want to give back,” the waitress said.
The customer wanted her year to start in gratitude and the best way she could think of was to honour the people who always serve her.
In a past story by Briefly.co.za, a waitress who works at a restaurant in Arkansas, America, received a tip she will never forget.
Maria Elena Barragan often served a couple, David and Shelia Harrison, who were regulars at the restaurant she worked.
According to local media, NWA Democrat-Gazette, the couple asked her to sit down with them after she had served them.
At first, Barragan thought she had done something wrong, but then she was handed a gift bag with the car's keys inside.
The Harrisons gifted the waitress a 2019 Buick Encore costing an estimated $24,000, which roughly translates to R 360 000.
