A Boksburg couple's disappearance has shaken Gauteng after a six-week community search ended with a heartbreaking discovery. Jessica Rabe, 20, and Yudistan Pillay, 25, went missing from the Dalpark area on 17 July 2026. True-crime content creator @bella_monsoon broke down the case in a TikTok video that has since gripped thousands of South Africans.
The alarm was first raised when Pillay, who worked as a mechanic, failed to show up for work. His employer reached out to his brother Wesley, who went to the residence the couple had been staying at and found them gone. A missing persons case was opened at the Dawn Park Police Station, and private investigator Wendy Pascoe became involved as families searched desperately for answers.
Bodies found in a backyard in Van Dyk Park
A tip-off on 28 August led investigators to a home on Wildevy Crescent in Van Dyk Park. Canine search and rescue teams made the grim discovery: both Rabe and Pillay had been wrapped in plastic and buried in a shallow grave, with palisade spikes, cement and acid found in the grave. Neighbours later recalled hearing digging one evening and noticing what smelled like burning plastic coming from the yard.

Two men face premeditated murder charges
Haroon Rashid Adam and Wessel Hendrick Swart, both 27, appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on 1 September 2026. They face charges of premeditated murder, kidnapping, assault and defeating the ends of justice. The State opposed bail, and both men remain in custody. Earlier reports had mentioned three arrests, but only two accused appeared in court proceedings.
Wesley Pillay alleged that the accused were people the couple had considered friends. That detail drew a sharp response from Bella Monsoon, who asked whether people would recognise danger if it came in the form of someone they trusted.
Rabe was laid to rest on 7 September 2026, while Pillay's funeral was held on 5 September. Autopsy results are still pending.
