A new hashtag was just born in South African Twitter streets - #ImSingleBecause. The hashtag sees single locals sharing the various and sometimes hilarious reasons why they find themselves single.
Wanting to have the freedom of making decisions without having to explain anything, chasing self-improvement and being both stubborn and unemployed are just a few of the reasons why some SAcans find themselves baeless.
Briefly.co.za took some time to explore the various weird and wonderful reasons so many South Africans find themselves steering clear of relationships and the commitments that come with them. Read a few of them below.
@Bahcee6 said:
"#ImSingleBecause I am stubborn and unemployed. I would have to rely on somebody's son and I can't, it's not in me... I can't even ask for a mere R2."
@NomT_Shabalala said:
"#ImSingleBecause I enjoy making my own decisions without reporting to anyone."
@Bongie_Haemz said:
"#ImSingleBecause I'm too busy working on securing the bag."
@RudzaniRust said:
"#IamSingleBecause social media has made me believe that women want money and I don't have it."
@BozzKazi sadly wrote:
"I couldn’t give him a baby and he married someone else who happened to be pregnant with his child, like when did y’all even make that baby yhuuu... #IamSingleBecause"
In other Briefly.co.za relationship news, a woman with the Twitter @HaYoMiDe_ has taken to the social media platform to get people talking after saying that broke women with less than R20k don't deserve men.
She wrote:
“A woman that doesn’t have up to [R20k] in her account doesn’t deserve a man.”
Soon thousands of people took to the comment section of her post to share their opinions as some disagreed with her while others thought that she was simply on point. Twitter user with the handle @jhulliett wrote:
"Na wa o. People will wake up and type rubbish. Make fire no burn the one in your account so you also become undeserving of a man. Yeye."
