A third suspect has finally been taken into custody in connection with the assassination of popular DJ Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras. On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, police confirmed the arrest of 40-year-old Hlengiwe Buthelezi, who had been on the run and wanted for alleged conspiracy to commit murder and murder in connection with DJ Warras's killing.
Warras was shot dead on 16 December 2025 in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal, in what investigators believe was a carefully orchestrated hit.
The role Buthelezi allegedly played
According to the state, Buthelezi is believed to be the girlfriend of Victor Majola, the man accused of masterminding the assassination. Investigators allege she relayed critical information, including DJ Warras's vehicle details and those of his partner, directly to Majola ahead of the killing. She is also believed to have been residing in the Johannesburg CBD building where Warras was killed, placing her squarely in the middle of the investigation.

As early as August, police had released a photograph of Buthelezi publicly, appealing for anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts to come forward.
Where the case stands now
Victor Majola remains an accused in the case, having previously been denied bail. The third person tied to the murder, Armando Pacula, identified as the gunman, is already behind bars. Pacula entered a plea and sentencing agreement with the state, pleading guilty to carrying out the killing in exchange for payment, and is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.
Mzansi was quick to respond to news of Buthelezi's arrest, with many expressing a mix of relief and frustration.
