Reality television personality Nandipha Mlombi, better known as Queen Nandi, has opted to stay silent in the face of mounting pressure over reports of an alleged arrest warrant and fresh backlash directed at her Mzansi Magic show, Nandi And The Rev. When asked directly about both matters, Nandi shut down any possibility of a public discussion.

"I have no comment at this stage. People are free to believe, interpret and write whatever they choose. I have nothing further to add to the public," she told News24.

What the alleged arrest warrant is about

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi did not confirm the existence of any warrant, and News24 noted it could not independently verify the charges Nandi is reportedly facing.

The legal questions stem partly from what viewers watched play out on screen. During the third episode of the show, detectives arrived at the Mlombis' home and informed Reverend Mawuzole that his wife was wanted for questioning over two crimen injuria cases allegedly opened at Bedfordview Police Station, one in 2023 and another in 2026. The detectives told him they had previously tried to reach Nandi but claimed she had insulted and blocked them, after which they requested she report to Cleveland Police Station the following day.

In a subsequent episode, Nandi confirmed she did go to the station but said she was permitted to return home because she had minor children. She traced the root of her legal troubles back to a dispute within the church.

"It all boils down to church. It's church – that's how we got here," she said.

Reverend Mawuzole said he was caught off guard by the second charge, as he had only been aware of the 2023 matter. That case is connected to remarks Nandi made in 2022 criticising the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and senior bishops, whom she accused of bullying her husband and running a smear campaign after he was stripped of his active station.

Viewers call for Nandi And The Rev to be pulled off air

Beyond the legal drama, the show itself has landed in hot water. The most recent episode shocked viewers when Reverend Mawuzole appeared to be intoxicated during a confrontation with Nandi, in which he accused her of locking him out of their home. At one point, he appeared to spit in her direction. The argument reportedly moved to their bedroom, where he appeared to manhandle her.

The footage triggered strong reactions online, with some viewers describing the relationship as toxic and calling for the show to be reported to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA). Others went further, demanding the programme be removed from air altogether.
