The DJ Warras murder case took a dramatic turn when the third suspect, Hlengiwe Buthelezi, appeared in court for the first time on 9 September 2026, drawing attention not only for the charges against her but also for the visible marks on her neck.

Journalist Chriselda Lewis, known on X as @Chriseldalewis, flagged the appearance with a post captioned "Marks on the neck 👀," tagging the hashtag #DJWarras. She also shared that the state had requested the matter be transferred to the High Court to join co-accused Victor Majola, with the next date set for 18 September.

Who Is Hlengiwe Buthelezi?

Police arrested Buthelezi, 40, in connection with the killing of DJ Warras, who was shot dead on 16 December 2025 in Johannesburg. Investigators believe she is the girlfriend of Victor Majola, the man accused of orchestrating the assassination. According to the state, Buthelezi allegedly passed on critical information to Majola before the killing, including details about DJ Warras's vehicle and those of his partner. She is also believed to have been living in the Johannesburg CBD building where the murder took place. As early as August 2026, police had publicly released her photograph and appealed for information on her whereabouts before she was eventually arrested.

Where the Case Stands

Majola remains in custody after being denied bail. A second accused, Armando Pacula, identified as the gunman, is already serving a 25-year prison sentence after entering a plea and sentencing agreement with the state, admitting to carrying out the killing in exchange for payment.
