A number of Mzansi entertainers have shared that they are suffering financially amid the government imposed lockdown. Towards the end of December 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country was moving back to the stricter Level 3 lockdown as Covid-19 infections skyrocketed during the festive season.

Entertainment events and the sale of alcohol are banned during the current Level 3 lockdown. A tweep @my_success21 took to Thandiswa's comment section and wrote:

"And these are the stories that are untold, we are only told about alcohol related stories which I don’t mind, but there are industries that have long shut without any voice."
