Arthur Mafokate Clears Air Amid Allegations of Looting Money

Arthur Mafokate has spoken out against the allegations levellwf against him. The record label boss and former artist is accused of unlawfully receiving funding from the National Arts Council (NAC).

Reports alleged that Mafokate, his family and even ex-girlfriend Chommee received millions in stimulus payment from the government.

Arthur has decided to clear the air in a lengthy statement shared on social media. He denied having received the funds but did not deny applying. Arthur said that he had not yet received the funding.

“Each proposal submitted was to benefit the relevant organisation’s field of expertise and those in that field.”

Arthur went on to defend his ex Chommee again after she was also dragged for receiving R2 million from the funding. He blasted snitches from within the NAC for revealing this information before contracts were even signed.

He accused these personnel of playing a “divisive role” and “fueling the fire” of the narrative of corruption.

Arthur went on to say that the person who started this campaign against him has a personal vendetta.

“This individual continues to slander and defame my character because his attempts to extort money have failed.”

Meanwhile Briefly.co.za previously reported that Chicco Twala has slammed Arthur Mafokate after he reportedly shared that he's also financially struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Arthur, who is a famous Kwaito musician, recently applied for the National Arts Council grant. Chicco feels that rich people like Arthur do not deserve the relief funds aimed at helping struggling Mzansi people amid the pandemic.

Chicco penned a lengthy open letter to Arthur slamming him for applying for these funds. Chicco said the 999 boss' action diminishes the chances of other Mzansi artists who are really struggling to access them.

The letter was shared on Twitter by @CoruscaKhaya. In the letter Chicco says:

"Seeing you and some members of your family being approved for over R5m of monies that are earmarked for Covid relief is a clear sign that you want everything for yourself."

Chicco criticised Arthur for "abusing systems" that are meant to advance their sector for his own personal gain.

Social media users have shared mixed reactions to Chicco's open letter.
