Rasta the artist has struck again but this time we all feel the same. He's created a touching piece of artwork as a tribute to the recently retired newsreader Noxolo Grootboom.
The artist is famous for painting portraits of the recently departed with questionable success. This latest portrait isn't perfect but it seems fitting, it comes from the heart.
He captioned the snaps of his artwork with the following:
"After 37 years of excellent service. We thank you for your talent Mama. Nilale nombethe ingubo yoxolo nothando."
Tweeps reacted to his painting with sarcasm, criticism and some praise:
@ThomoDavid1:
"You nailed this one bra yam. Take these."
@RadebeXolo:
"uyazama u Rasta manje." (You are trying now Rasta)
@BGinya:
"Well done Rastar ."
@Innocent_Menzi:
"You are truly a legend. I love your work Man. God bless you ."
Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that this week was a very emotional time for many South Africans who took some time to watch Noxolo Grootboom during her final news broadcast. Earlier this month, the journalist and news broadcaster announced that she was bidding farewell to the world of news production and moving forward to pursue other things.
Many South Africans propped themselves in front of their TVs as they bid farewell to Noxolo. After her segment was over, many of them headed online to share their thoughts of the final broadcast.
"#NoxoloGrootboom.Wow. Thank you mama," wrote one social media user.
In other news, veteran newsreader Noxolo Grootman said goodbye to news broadcasting yesterday and the nation was very emotional. Mam'Noxolo is loved by many in Mzansi for keeping the country informed on current affairs.
Somizi Mhlongo is one of those who showed appreciation to Noxolo and surprised her with a lovely pot-plant. Noxolo was at the 947 studios, doing an interview with media personality Anele Mdoda.
Taking to social media, 947 posted a video of Somizi gifting Noxolo the plant and it was indeed very heartwarming. Noxolo started crying when she saw Somizi. They captioned the post:
"Just when we thought the surprises were done, Somizi left his warm luxurious bed to grace #AneleAndTheClub as we celebrate umam #NoxoloGrootboom and her reaction says it."
