Another group of people has taken it upon themselves to fix their neighbourhoods as they grow tired of waiting for action from the local municipality who is known to drag their feet when it comes to service delivery.

"Painting Speed Humps in Bethlehem. ✊ We do it ourselves since the Municipality is failing us," a snap of the men at work in Bethlehem was captioned by Bethelehem News Spot.

Locals were of the opinion that the men deserved high praises for taking the initiative in their streets while others criticised the government for what they called, failing its people. Read a few of their comments below:

In similar Briefly News just when you think you've seen it all, KZN residents host a fishing contest that took place in the area using potholes to fish out of. Heading online, a Facebook page belonging to a group of people dedicated to cleaning up their community and bringing light to a dreadful pothole problem in the area shared pictures of the event that took place recently.

According to a news report, the event is the brainchild of Curry's Post Conservancy, which was looking for a way to raise money to employ local people to pick up litter and to generally clean up the area. They also wanted to highlight the pothole problem certain parts of KZN are facing.

So for R20, locals were allowed to "fish" inside the potholes, in which bright yellow rubber ducks floated around while blow-up dinosaurs watched wistfully. Also in the mix was a bagpipe player that entertained the contestants.
