Absa is making it easier for South Africans to invest by bringing the stock market directly into its banking app. The bank announced a partnership with EasyEquities that will allow its 12 million customers to buy JSE-listed shares and access other investment markets without needing a separate platform.
The partnership removes one of the biggest barriers to investing for everyday South Africans: the friction of opening and managing a standalone brokerage account. With the integration, customers will be able to start building wealth directly from within the Absa app they already use for day-to-day banking.
Absa and EasyEquities: What customers can expect
The tie-up is not starting from scratch. Around 125,000 Absa customers have already linked their EasyEquities accounts to their banking profile, and thousands more already hold Absa shares or other investment products through the EasyEquities platform. The new integration simply brings that experience fully inside the Absa app.

According to a report by BusinessTech, Absa confirmed that a full rollout announcement is expected in September 2026, as part of the bank’s broader push to expand its digital banking and investment offerings.
TikTok account @dailyintern shared the news on 8 August 2026, and it quickly caught the attention of South Africans interested in growing their money through the stock market.
For many South Africans, the idea of investing has long felt out of reach, tied to complicated processes and platforms that require time and financial know-how to navigate. A built-in investing tool inside a familiar banking app could change that, lowering the threshold for first-time investors and making wealth-building feel more accessible to ordinary people.
