Defending himself, Kunene claims to have been at his home to facilitate an interview for his online newspaper.

"Mr Molefe was a person there was an opportunity to do a story with. Remember, he has not spoken publicly since his arrest and whilst on bail. I facilitated with a mutual acquaintance, and Mr Molefe agreed to do the interview."

Reacting to the interview on his radio show on Power 98.7, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi chuckled throughout Kunene's explanation.

Not only that, but Ndlozi played a recording of Gayton McKenzie's interview with Newzroom Afrika, where he reacted to General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's explosive allegations and said he "knew things."

It's unclear whether the former EFF member was alluding to McKenzie possibly knowing and exposing Kunene's secrets or whether he was highlighting the Sports Minister's knowledge of what really goes on behind political doors.
