Renowned South African broadcaster and entrepreneur, DJ Sbu, mourned the untimely passing of music producer and club wheel spinner DJ Poizen. DJ Sbu also shared that he and DJ Poizen had major plans before his death on Saturday, 30 August 2025.

DJ Caven Masetla, aka Poizen, passed away in a fatal car crash that left another DJ, Collen Mmotla, aka Chymamusique, severely injured. As South Africans expressed their well-wishes to Cymamusique and paid tribute to the late DJ Poizen, DJ Sbu joined the chat and disclosed the plans he had with the late wheel spinner.

In a post shared on his X account on Sunday, 31 August 2025, Radio 2000 presenter DJ Sbu reacted to the passing of DJ Poizen.

He shared how he had been a fan of Poizen’s music for years before they finally met at the 2025 Durban July Event. DJ Sbu shared that he and DJ Poizen had agreed to sit down for an interview, which never materialised before his passing.

The DJ, who is believed to be the man behind the iconic Mzekezeke, paid his condolences to Poizen’s loved ones. The post was captioned:

“Very sad news to wake up to the passing of my brother Poizen. Hardly a month ago, I met you in person at Durban July after admiring your music for years. I was looking forward to hosting you on the radio like we had planned🥲 My prayers go out to all your loved ones, family, fans and friends. Condolences. Nxese. Dudu. Tshidisehang. Alwehlanga lungehlanga🙏🏿”

In more entertainment news, South Africans were stunned after seeing the amount of damage to DJ Chymamusique's car,

X (Twitter) user samza177 posted a picture of one of the cars at the scene and reminded netizens of the other car's occupants, who were seemingly disregarded:

"In the midst of this horrific accident that claimed the life of Poizen and landed Chyma in the ICU, someone asked how the occupants of the other vehicle were doing; that's when it hit home."

Lamiez Holworthy shares DJ Poizen’s last day before death

Meanwhile, Briefly News reported that Lamiez Holworthy recalled her last moments with DJ Poizen before he passed away.

Taking to her social media account, Holworthy shared that she was shocked to learn about Poizen's death, as they were together the previous day on Friday, 29 August 2025.

South Africans took to the media personality's social media post to comfort her and pray for Chymamusique's speedy recovery.
