A newly surfaced bodycam video has reignited debate around South African reality TV personalities Peet and Mel Viljoen, capturing Peet in a heated exchange with a US investigator following the couple's arrest in March 2026.

The footage, recorded on an Axon Body 4 camera and timestamped 10 March 2026, was filmed inside what appears to be an interrogation room with acoustic foam panelling. It was shared on X by @BiancavanWyk16.

What Peet said during the interrogation

In the clip, an investigator confronts Peet with surveillance footage, telling him there are over 60 recorded incidents of the couple allegedly failing to pay for items at the store. The investigator specifically describes an instance involving San Pellegrino water, alleging that items were placed beneath a case of water before being scanned.

Peet denied the allegations outright, attributing everything to scanner malfunctions and a lack of familiarity with the self-checkout system. "I think you guys are on a fishing trip," he told the investigator. "I think you want me to admit certain stuff which didn't happen. So I really think this is a misunderstanding, if anything, or a lack of knowing the scanning system."

When the investigator pressed him on instances where items allegedly left the store without payment, Peet maintained he had never walked out without paying.
