Ariana Grande is not here for her music being used as a political prop. The pop star went directly to the comments section of a Team Trump TikTok post on Thursday, 20 August, after her song was used without her blessing, and she had a lot to say.

The Team Trump account posted a video featuring Grande's track "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)" as its background music. The clip showed President Donald Trump, 80, walking up to a rally podium as part of a viral trend built around the song's lyric "Me and my truth we sit in silence." Beneath the footage, the text read: "Men can't have babies and should never compete in women's sports." The post's caption added, "This shouldn't be controversial! #trump #arianagrande #maga."

Grande Hits Back

Grande spotted the post and responded with a pointed, two-part comment that left little room for interpretation. "Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false," she wrote in the comments section. Her comment has since been removed and is no longer visible on the video.

This is not the first time artists have clashed with political campaigns over the unauthorised use of their music. Grande has been vocal about her political views in the past, and her swift response made clear she had no interest in her work being associated with the messaging in the video.

The Team Trump account had not addressed Grande's comment or removed the video at the time of writing.
