Rapper Emtee was back in the dock on Thursday as his drawn-out legal battle showed no signs of wrapping up just yet. The 33-year-old, whose full name is Mthembeni Ndevu, appeared at the Midrand Magistrates Court on 10 September 2026, continuing a case that has seen him in and out of court throughout the year.
The charges stem from an alleged breach of a protection order originally granted in 2023, involving his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy. Emtee has remained on R2 000 bail, with conditions prohibiting him from contacting Chinsamy unless communication concerns their children, and barring him from issuing any threats against her.
What happened in court
Thursday's hearing was short. According to News24, the main outcome was that the defence was granted additional preparation time, with Emtee's legal team now having until Tuesday, 15 September, to submit their representations to the prosecution. Once those submissions are filed, the case is expected to progress to the next stage.

Emtee's father weighs in
Emtee's father, Lumkile Ndevu, has previously weighed in on his son's situation, telling Daily Sun that he hopes the rapper would take the experience as a wake-up call, using it as motivation to refocus on both his family and his music.
The case has continued to follow the *Roll Up* hitmaker through his professional life, keeping him in the public eye for matters far removed from his work in the studio.
Emtee was released on R2,000 bail
