DJ Maphorisa is done letting Nota Baloyi rewrite history. During his appearance on Podcast and Chill with MacG, recorded on Thursday, 17 September, Phori opened up about wanting his coins for the hit "Ngud'" but admitted he's not eager to go the legal route — reportedly because he knows MacG doesn't pay him enough to make a court battle worthwhile.

The episode was filmed inside the show's signature podcast studio, set against a yellow curtain backdrop with "Chillers Punch" branding and a comic-book-style graphic wall. True to the show's candid format, the conversation quickly turned to music industry grievances and the polarising figure of music executive Nota Baloyi.

Phori's glasses analogy breaks the internet

Maphorisa didn't hold back when explaining how Nota operates. He pulled out a now-viral analogy to describe how the music exec takes small truths and blows them wildly out of proportion online.

"So let's say you drop your glasses, right? And then we see Nota picking up the glasses to give them to you. So him picking up the glasses, it's true. He picked them up. But when he goes on the internet like, 'Sol wouldn't be able to see if it wasn't for me. I gave him glasses so you can see,'" Phori said, mimicking Nota's style.

He went on to acknowledge that Nota is undeniably sharp, but that his tendency to embellish makes it impossible to give him his flowers publicly without it spiralling into something bigger than the truth.

"He embellishes a lot of things. Exaggerates stuff," Phori concluded.

MacG, visibly excited throughout the interview, struggled to contain himself during the exchange.
