Veteran broadcaster Kgomotso "KG" Moeketsi is channelling her energy into a new independent venture after her SAfm departure. She has announced the launch of her podcast, Between Us, slated for November 2026, bringing familiar faces along for the ride.

KG's SAfm fallout

Moeketsi built her radio career across several major stations, including Radio BOP, Kaya FM and Gagasi FM, before landing at SAfm, where she hosted the weekend jazz programme Seasons. Her two-year contract there was terminated on 15 July 2026 following an internal investigation led by SAfm programme manager Ferdinand Mabalane.

In a public statement released in early August, Moeketsi laid out a sequence of events she believes led to her dismissal. It reportedly began with a WhatsApp exchange on 30 May with a listener who had requested a song. The following day, a major technical failure disrupted her show for close to two hours. When she escalated her concerns to management via email, she said she arrived for her next scheduled broadcast only to discover she had already been suspended.

She has disputed the fairness of the process, alleging that the SABC did not adhere to the contractual provisions for due process and withheld payment for at least one show. The SABC confirmed the termination followed an internal process and noted she retains the right to appeal, but declined to comment further. Moeketsi has been clear that she is not seeking her job back; she wants accountability and an independent review of what happened.

The fundraiser and the podcast pivot

To fund a High Court challenge against the SABC, Moeketsi launched a BackaBuddy campaign targeting roughly R250 000. By mid-August, supporters had contributed around R4 300. Dineo publicly backed her mother during this period, sharing the statement with the caption:

"How my mom was done dirty."

Between Us represents a pivot towards independent content creation, with Moeketsi retaining full creative control outside of a corporate broadcasting environment. Further details about the podcast's format, platform and exact premiere date are yet to be confirmed.

She continues to pursue her legal dispute with the SABC while simultaneously building towards the new show's debut.

Dineo Langa supported KG Moeketsi

Dineo Langa publicly supported her mother, KG Moeketsi, after the veteran broadcaster detailed her dismissal from SAFM and legal plans.

KG Moeketsi alleged she was treated unfairly during an internal investigation that ended with her contract being terminated.
