Media personality Anele Mdoda jumped into the social media fire this week to defend close friends Moshe Ndiki and Phelo Bala, after a video clip showing the former couple together reignited public debate about their relationship.

The clip, shared by X user @Priscill_Thato, showed Phelo Bala unexpectedly dropping in on ex-husband Moshe Ndiki. The post carried the caption, "oh when then ex husband pulls up 🤣🤣🤣 @phelobala," and quickly spread across timelines, with many reading it as confirmation that the pair have rekindled their romance following a very public and turbulent split.

Anele's swift response to the critics

The original post drew sharp criticism from @Priscill_Thato, who wrote:

"Moshe Ndiki and Phelo Bala being back together just proves money can't buy class or peace. That relationship is trauma-bonded, and y'all call it goals. 🤣"

Anele Mdoda, quoting the post directly on X, kept her response short and blunt:

"You will learn to mind your own business."

The two-sentence exchange was enough to set timelines alight. Mdoda, who is well known for publicly backing those she considers close to her in the entertainment industry, was clearly unimpressed with the pile-on directed at Ndiki and Bala.

Mzansi pushes back at Anele

Not everyone in Mzansi felt Anele's clapback was warranted, particularly given that the former couple's split had played out very publicly, with allegations of domestic abuse surfacing on both sides at the time.

@TboozeSA raised the complexity of the situation:

"To be fair, there were accusations of domestic abuse on both sides. They came online to share their experience with signs of injuries. People going about their business when there is abuse involved doesn't paint a positive picture of community. What is a perfect action?"

@MoreTwoLyf pointed out the contradiction in asking for privacy while posting publicly:

"Kinda hard to do that when you guys post your business on public platforms. People will comment and have opinions as long as you post your stuff online. ❤️"

@spansam brought up Anele's own commentary habits:

"Lol, mind business on Twitter? Why didn't you mind your business regarding the rugby player nawe."

@uNomalungelo questioned the logic of the call for silence, writing:

"'Mind our business' kwi domestic violence?"

@Mawinizerr kept it brief:

"We didn't ask them to put their business out onto SM. Bored."

@RoyaltyNzwakazi challenged Mdoda's influence, saying:

"At what point do we start learning to mind our own business? This is a careless and not thought-through comment. I suppose you're just Anele with a large following and influence."

@NandiphaB sympathised with the reunion angle:

"Don't blame em shame, ikhona nam iEx endibawel uyichwechwela...kunale dating swamp. 😩"
