Zee Nxumalo's latest campaign shoot for NIVEA South Africa has got people talking, though not entirely for the reasons the brand might have hoped. Photos from the Luminous630 Skin Glow campaign were shared on 2 October 2026, and while her skin looked radiant, it was her hair that grabbed all the attention online.

Fan account @sahiphop_piano shared the campaign imagery with the caption "Zee Nxumalo for NIVEA," but it was a brief reply from @MalulekNhlamulo that set the comments alight. The single word "Hair?" was all it took to split Mzansi right down the middle.

Zee Nxumalo's NIVEA journey

This is not Zee's first time working with the skincare giant. The singer joined NIVEA's Skin Glow Squad in 2025 and previously collaborated on the brand's Glow Track campaign. Her latest appointment as brand ambassador for the Luminous630 Skin Glow range is a natural progression of that relationship. Clearly, NIVEA sees something glowing in her, even if some fans were distracted by what was on top of her head.

Mzansi reacts to the campaign photos

The responses ranged from outright confusion to passionate defence of natural hair:

@Mathapelo_Matz: "There's just no way 😭😭😭😭😭 so they took this picture, edited it, and it looked good to them???"

@Naledi_Ba: "The lace yoh?😭"

@nobuhlemendy: "What's wrong with loving your natural hair or wearing a wig close to your natural hair smh"

@november26_x: "Eish yohhh😭😭they did her dirty"

@ZvaitaRuvimbo: "It's a wiggggg !!! Give the girl a break."

@Anthony_Sopran: "This is a skin care ad; the hair is none of your business."

@zilevandamme: "My sister, I am going to need you to tell that isn't a real photo."

The debate around whether the hairstyle was a wig or natural hair only added fuel to the fire, with some fans arguing that Zee deserved credit for embracing a look that sits outside the usual glamour-driven celebrity aesthetic, while others felt the campaign styling let her down entirely.
