Isencane Lengane star Siyacela Dlamuka has left Mzansi deeply unsettled after a startling conversation about polygamy and ukuthwala aired on Moja Love. His comments during the Sunday, 4 October episode have since become one of the most talked-about moments of the current season.

Siyacela and his wife Thando first captured public attention when they married as teenagers in 2019, with Thando aged 15 and Siyacela just 16 at the time. Their journey has played out on the reality show ever since, drawing loyal and often opinionated viewership.

Siyacela's disturbing polygamy plans

During the episode, Siyacela spoke candidly about his desire to take additional wives, acknowledging that financial stability would be essential to sustain a polygamous household. Rather than outlining conventional plans to build wealth, he floated two extreme alternatives: executing a cash-in-transit heist or turning to ukuthwala, a practice associated with obtaining wealth through ritual means.

According to Daily Sun, he went further, saying he had visited places where ukuthwala is practised to understand what would be required of him. In perhaps the most chilling moment of the episode, Siyacela stated that he had lost his conscience and was no longer afraid of consequences. He added that he would be willing to kill his own brother if that was what the practice demanded of him in exchange for money.

His brother Nqobani responds

Those words landed hard for his brother, Nqobani Dlamuka, who was visibly hurt upon hearing them. Nqobani said he preferred to rely on his ancestors for guidance and expressed concern that those who pursued ukuthwala risked facing serious consequences, including a shortened lifespan.

He admitted that he could not understand where Siyacela had developed this fixation, but acknowledged that his brother appeared deeply drawn to the idea. The episode has reignited widespread debate about Siyacela's attitudes towards marriage, money and the lengths he claims he would go to in pursuit of his goals.
