Limpopo rapper Lehlogonolo "Shebeshxt" Chauke is staying in custody a little longer, after his bail hearing was pushed back from 26 October to 29 October 2026.
The Lekompo artist, known for the hit Twerka, is making his fifth attempt to secure bail since his arrest in November 2025. His defence team is arguing that new information has come to light that could significantly shift the prospects of release.
Forensic report at the centre of bail bid
At the heart of this latest application is a forensic ballistics report compiled by specialist Dr Christo de Klerk. According to The Citizen, Shebeshxt's legal team believes the report could challenge key elements found in the police docket, potentially weakening the state's case against him. However, the prosecution has made clear it intends to oppose the bail application.

Briefly News previously reported that the musician's defence was seeking to apply for bail on the basis of new facts, marking each successive attempt as a fresh legal push against what has become a lengthy pre-trial detention.
21 charges and a changed ppearance
Shebeshxt faces a total of 21 charges, an extensive list that includes four counts of attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, culpable homicide, assault, reckless or negligent driving, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
His most recent appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate's Court drew attention beyond the courtroom, with fans noting that the rapper looks noticeably different compared to how he appeared before his incarceration.
With the case returning on 29 October, all eyes will be on whether the ballistics evidence provides his defence with the breakthrough it needs to finally secure his release.
