Polygamist and businessman Musa Mseleku thought he was showing love, but his Instagram caption for MaKhumalo has landed him in hot water. What started as an apparent show of appreciation quickly turned into a talking point after followers felt his words did more harm than good.
On Friday, 9 October 2026, Mseleku posted: "Mother of my kids and one day you will understand why I can't exclude her." The problem? Fans immediately pointed out that he should have stopped at "mother of my kids."
The caption that said too much
The second half of the message struck a raw nerve. MaKhumalo, Musa's third wife, has been unable to conceive, a deeply personal struggle that has been documented extensively on their reality TV show, *Uthando Nes'thembu*. His other four wives have all borne him children, but his marriage to MaKhumalo has remained childless.

The situation was made more painful in a previous episode of the show, when MaKhumalo revealed that Musa had told her he would marry his fifth wife, MaKhwela, specifically because she could give him children that MaKhumalo could not. Against that backdrop, followers found the wording of his caption tone-deaf at best.
**Mzansi Weighs In**
The reactions came swiftly, and people had a lot to say.
@zusiphe_mvelase summed up the general mood with precision: "'Mother of my kids' bese uvala umlomo."
@lesyethel questioned his judgement, writing: "Haibo, was the last part necessary mara, Christopher. 🤔"
@fakade_ec directed their frustration at how MaKhumalo has been treated: "Mseleku one day you will ask for Mpilo's forgiveness on your deathbed and may she forgive you utyiwe wedwa zizono zakho 😡 Ibuhlungu kakhulu into oyenza emntaneni Tatadini! I hope Mpilo heals and understands that even without being welcomed by her own father, her Mother's ancestors will always guide and protect her."

@angel___facee brought Musa's daughter Mbali into the conversation: "No wonder Mbali said 'ubaba womuzi o busy ku instagram for me idk' coz what is this caption 🙂"
@kuhlekonke_mazibuko offered a lighter take, suggesting the language barrier might be to blame: "Baba I think mele ubhale ngesintu le yesingisi izokuqhatha nabantu yoo."
Not everyone read the post the same way. @hope_maziibuko offered an alternative interpretation: "No guys I think the excluding part he's referring to Mpilo's situation 😂 because we all know he can just proceed without Ma K but he's not going to do that because she is the mother of his kids."
Mseleku is no stranger to controversy around his polygamous family life, but this post showed that even a gesture meant to uplift MaKhumalo can stir up old wounds when the wording is not carefully considered.
