Actor Tumisho Masha fired a blunt warning on X after footage emerged of a foreign national being arrested outside an asylum centre in Durban on Thursday, 9 October 2026. The man had allegedly threatened Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, the founder of the anti-illegal immigration movement March and March, while waiting in the queue to apply for asylum.
Video shared by PSALIVE captured the tense outdoor scene, filmed on what appeared to be a handheld phone during an active police operation. Members of the South African Police Service are seen escorting the man and placing him into a police van, with bystanders watching on.

The incident unfolded against an already charged political backdrop. On 7 July 2026, the Constitutional Court ruled in the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town case that several provisions of the Refugees Act were unconstitutional. Legal commentators, including one referred to as Sebei, clarified that the ruling does not alter who qualifies as a refugee but instead bars the automatic exclusion of asylum seekers before their individual cases are heard, in line with the international principle of non-refoulement.
Mzansi backs Ngobese-Zuma
The arrest video and Masha's response quickly drew strong opinions across X.
@AnkileMani wrote:
"They forget that we were born during apartheid; the DNA of the 1976 heroes is embedded in our genes; we will die for our South Africa 💪🏾"
@MamphoBrescia added:
"I will never understand how people think they can behave in an untoward way in someone else's house. Then feel hate for the host when they object!"
Ngobese-Zuma has become a prominent and at times polarising figure in South Africa's heated immigration debate, leading street marches that have drawn both mass public support and fierce criticism from those who argue the movement fuels xenophobia. The arrest of the man who allegedly threatened her has added further fuel to an already volatile national conversation.
