The unusual incident occurred during the evening when the snakes, locked in a battle for dominance, accidentally broke through the roof and landed in the home. A local snake catcher, who was called to the property, shared the event on his Facebook page under the handle Snake Catcher Noosa 24/7 Luke the Snake Catcher, and he explained that the behaviour was linked to the breeding season.

“Two male carpet pythons fighting over a nearby female broke through the roof by accident. I was called out to a home in Lake MacDonald last night to relocate this cheeky body that had fallen through the roof," he wrote.

According to the snake expert, the residents were not overly concerned about snakes in general but admitted that the sight of two large pythons crashing into their bathroom was far from ideal. He added that during spring, female carpet pythons ovulate and release pheromones that attract males. The males then engage in combat, wrestling and twisting around one another until one backs down, with the winner earning the right to mate.

“This is what these boys were doing,” he explained, urging locals to remain vigilant. “Keep an eye out, folks, the season’s here.”

The video that was posted on 3 September 2025 on Facebook has since gone viral, sparking both fascination and fear online. Many viewers expressed relief that the snakes were safely removed, while others marvelled at the raw display of nature in suburban settings.
