A 14-year-old girl named Fatima Ahmed was kidnapped in Mayfair, Johannesburg, on 7 July 2026, with outdoor CCTV footage capturing the moment she was taken near a residential street. The security camera footage, labelled "Camera 03" with a visible timestamp, shows a dark-coloured car parked with its doors open close to residential buildings, with a person approaching the vehicle across the sequence of frames.

Anti-Crime Activist Abramjee reported that Fatima was found safe and released within hours of the kidnapping. According to a family member, the suspects told her they had taken the wrong person entirely. They had reportedly been targeting a different girl and only realised their mistake after the abduction.
