A resurfaced video is causing a stir online, and the timing could not be more pointed. Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Sergeant Peter Nonyane, popularly known as “Gagash”, once declared on camera that he would “never be humble.” That clip has found new life just as he stepped into a Limpopo courtroom to face serious criminal charges.
Twitter user @Am_Blujay, known as The Instigator, shared the old footage on 18 August 2026, noting its uncanny timing ahead of Nonyane’s court appearance.
Fraud charges bring cop and wife to court
The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court is currently hearing a case against Nonyane and his wife, Charlotte Tibana, a practising lawyer. Together, they face two counts of fraud and two counts of money laundering. Prosecutors allege the pair defrauded two separate estates of more than R3 million, using the proceeds to purchase luxury vehicles.

According to evidence presented in court, the transactions took place in 2024. A vehicle dealership grew suspicious and flagged the payments to the Hawks, who launched an investigation. Nonyane was arrested in Pretoria, while Tibana handed herself over to authorities in Polokwane.
