A male lion at the Kruger National Park gave tourists the fright of their lives after a lioness rejected his advances and he took out his frustration on nearby safari vehicles.

Wildlife page Roaring Earth shared the footage on 19 August 2026, and it spread quickly across social media for all the right reasons.

The video shows the lion pacing closely around tourist cars and an open-sided safari truck. According to the narrator, the lion had just been turned down by a lioness during a mating attempt, and was either working through his anger or building up confidence for a second try.

What made the clip even more amusing was the narrator's closing advice: always keep your windows closed on safari. The problem? Several of the vehicles surrounding the lion had no windows at all.

Open safari vehicles are standard on many game reserve experiences across South Africa, designed to give guests an unobstructed view of wildlife. Moments like this one are a reminder of exactly what that proximity means when an animal is in a heightened emotional state.
