A Johannesburg woman turned a loss into a relatable Dischem haul video that has South Africans rushing to their nearest store.
Gabriella Ioannoy posted the TikTok clip on 30 August 2026, filmed in her Joburg bedroom with a casual, upbeat energy. She explained that after returning to her room, she discovered that years' worth of beauty products she had left behind had completely disappeared. No one could tell her what had happened to them.
Rather than dwell on it, she grabbed a shopping bag and made her way to Dischem, giving herself just 10 minutes to replace everything she needed. Her tip for getting in and out quickly was simple: skip the makeup aisle entirely.

The haul covered a solid range of everyday essentials. She picked up makeup wedges she believes work better than beauty blenders, along with a bar of soap, body wash, body cream, tissue oil and deodorant. She also grabbed cotton pads, cotton buds, a mouthwash with fewer chemicals, toothpaste, hair gel, hair ties and hair clips.

Her philosophy for smelling good around the clock came through clearly in her product choices. She keeps everything in the same scent family, which for her means vanilla, coconut, shea butter and almond. She said layering deodorant, body wash and body cream within the same fragrance group is the real secret.
She also mentioned that consistent moisturising over time had made a real difference to her skin, noting that her body cream is non-comedogenic and does not clog pores. The one product she had already ordered separately was an L'Occitane fragrance, which she said she simply cannot go without.
The only item she was still undecided on was a razor. She asked her followers for recommendations, saying she had tried expensive and budget options alike and had never found one she loved.
