GAUTENG — The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating a senior officer after photographs allegedly connecting him to a dancer at The Grand, a club in Sandton, surfaced. News24 first reported the story.
According to the report, a dancer at the establishment photographed herself wearing what appears to be a SAPS uniform. The images were reportedly taken at a hotel near the club. Investigators are reportedly looking into allegations that the photographs were later used as leverage for extortion and blackmail.
Separate accounts suggest the officer may have been drugged and robbed. The two versions of events remain unresolved, and none of the allegations has been proven.
Docket audit and wider misconduct concerns
Following the media reports, SAPS has reportedly initiated an audit of dockets processed at the Sandton police station. The audit follows concerns that a number of serious, high-profile cases were allegedly withheld from specialised units equipped to handle them.

The officer is not the only senior official facing scrutiny in connection with The Grand. Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, who was arrested at the club, is among other senior figures facing misconduct proceedings linked to the same premises.
Briefly News has previously reported on disciplinary proceedings involving Sibiya and the broader investigations into alleged misconduct at the Madlanga Commission.
