A Pretoria motorist is being hunted online after fleeing the scene of a crash captured on camera on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. Video footage filmed from a passing vehicle shows a grey Hyundai SUV speeding away shortly after allegedly striking the back of a red hatchback near the Mediclinic Medforum intersection in Pretoria.

The driver of the damaged red car can be seen pulling over to the side of the road to inspect the impact while the Hyundai disappears into traffic. The clip was shared on TikTok by @newsnexussa, and it did not take long before South Africans began sharing it widely in an effort to track down the vehicle's registration details and identify the driver.

What quickly stood out to those watching was not just the crash itself, but the decision to drive away. Many commenters pointed out that leaving the scene transforms what could have been a straightforward insurance matter into something far more serious. Without a witness or video, the victim of such an incident often has no recourse, and insurers routinely decline to pay out on claims that cannot be corroborated. The bystander who recorded the footage was celebrated for doing exactly what many wish someone had done for them in similar situations.
