A 4-year-old boy from the Eastern Cape has earned himself a spot among South Africa’s most recognised social media personalities. Lihlumelo Lujabe, known online as ZuluBoy, has been officially nominated for the Kids Influencer of the Year award at the South African Social Media Awards (SASMAs).

His mother, Siphe Lujabe, shared the nominee announcement on Facebook, showing ZuluBoy’s photo proudly displayed on an awards screen under the category “Social Media Child Influencer of the Year.”

Who is ZuluBoy?

Despite his nickname, ZuluBoy reportedly grew up in a Xhosa-speaking home. His grandfather gave him the name because his father’s family is Zulu. He and his mother co-create content built around everyday family life, role-reversal conversations, and the kind of sharp observations that leave adults speechless.

Fans often described him as an old man in a small body, and it is easy to see why. His videos carry a wit and confidence that most adults would struggle to match. According to a profile published by IOL, ZuluBoy has also been quietly challenging long-standing gender stereotypes through his content, all without even trying.

The nomination has sent his online community into full celebration mode, with supporters flooding the comments section to pledge their votes.
