The journey was no quick hop. The couple flew out of Cape Town, stopped over in Dubai, and eventually landed in Moscow before making their way to a rural Russian village. On arrival, family members welcomed them in traditional style, one carrying bread and another holding a bouquet of flowers for his partner.

A Grandfather's legacy in the Russian forest

From Moscow, the couple drove out to his grandfather's property, a farmstead the old man built entirely by himself over five years in the forest. Daniil explained in the video that the place holds deep sentimental value for the family and that he returns every year to maintain it. During their stay, he was seen doing woodwork with a chainsaw, tending to flower beds, and clearing weeds, while his partner got stuck in with the gardening too.

The family gathered for a braai-style get-together, tried a Russian vodka with a snake preserved inside the bottle, and explored a nearby city by train. Daniil also teased that he would share more Russian history in a follow-up episode, including the story of how his ancestors acquired the land.
