JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters released a statement that the newly appointed board at Eskom will not solve the energy crises in South Africa on 30 September.

The public enterprise minister Pravin Gordhan selected Mpho Makwana as the new chairperson of the new board at Eskom, and they have commenced with their duties today, Times Live reported.

"We strongly believe that the appointment of a new board will not help in solving the many crises of Eskom, including huge debt, neglected strategic energy infrastructure, and now perennial loadshedding.

The EFF claims there is no proper plan for the energy policy in South Africa and that Independent Power Producers (IPPs) have contributed to the power utility's financial unraveling.

Mpho Makwana is also the chairperson at Nedbank, and the EFF says this is a clear conflict of interest.

"Nedbank alone has financed more than 42 renewable energy projects and can only get its money back if Eskom collapse."

The political party calls for André de Ruyter and Jan Oberholzer to be fired because they are incompetent.

"The only thing this statement shows u r still burning over Jamandas."

@Malabulabu945 stated:

"Mpho Makwana is clearly there to guarantee Nedbank’s interests. But this is not state capture, it’s good governance. Say what you will about Jacob Zuma, but he found the people with skills to solve loadshedding within Eskom."

@MagistroMart posted:

"Zuma allowed them to run without maintenance. Now it's broken you think he did well."

@Dumisan33736665 wrote:

"This statement is so telling and revealing of what we as a country are confronted with in terms of a cartel running our country's affairs. A crisis is created in order to bring more individuals to continue the looting spree."

.@NkosinathiDuze added:

"Tryphosa Ramano was once appointed at SAA during the purge of umama uDudu Myeni and she was mandated to accelerate privatization and our exclusion from procurement.Eskom mandate to unbundle and transition will now go full steam."
