Cars.co.za supports Guinness World Record Supercar Rhino Run for rhino conservation

Cars.co.za has partnered with the 2026 Supercar Rhino Run to help South Africa claim a new Guinness World Record and shine a global spotlight on rhino conservation. Together with organisers and the broader car community, Cars.co.za helped bring 243 verified supercars to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for a record-breaking gathering that translated passion for performance cars into real-world support for Rhino Connect’s anti-poaching and rhino rehabilitation work.

Held on Sunday, 19 July 2026, the Supercar Rhino Run began with hundreds of high-performance vehicles assembling at FNB Stadium before travelling under Metro Police convoy to Kyalami. The convoy drew crowds, stopped traffic and turned Johannesburg’s freeways into a rolling celebration of South African car culture with a purpose.

At the circuit, each qualifying vehicle was audited individually by official adjudicator Mbali Nkosi and supporting verification teams. Only vehicles that met the strict definition of a supercar were counted; sports cars and modified performance cars that did not qualify were excluded from the record attempt.

The previous benchmark was 179 vehicles, achieved at Angkor Wat in Cambodia in 2024. With 243 verified supercars assembled on the Kyalami straight, the South African event smashed that figure by 64 vehicles, underlining the size, passion and coordination of the local performance-car community.

But the record was the platform, not the end goal.

Organised by the Ferris Hope Foundation on behalf of Rhino Connect, and supported by partners including Cars.co.za, the Supercar Rhino Run was created to turn enthusiasm for supercars into practical support for rhino conservation, anti-poaching work and the rehabilitation of orphaned rhino calves. The event converted spectacle into impact, generating financial donations, essential milk formula for orphaned calves and both local and international attention for Rhino Connect’s ongoing work.

Nicole Capper Austin, Chief Marketing Officer at Cars.co.za, said the partnership showed how powerful South Africa’s automotive community can be when it rallies around a cause. “A supercar is designed to be noticed. On this occasion, 243 of them demanded that the world pay attention to something far more important than horsepower. That is what made this partnership so powerful: the cars created the spectacle, but the rhinos gave it meaning. South Africa’s car community did not simply break a record; we showed what becomes possible when passion is put to work for a purpose.”
